Wood Floor Repairs
Board and block replacement, squeak fixes and structural repairs for wooden floors in Croydon. Matched timber, careful joinery and a finish that blends in.
Repairing wooden floors across Croydon
A damaged section rarely means the whole floor has to go. With the right timber, careful joinery and a well-matched finish, we repair the damaged areas and keep everything that is still sound. We work on period homes, modern apartments and busy public buildings across Croydon and the surrounding areas.
Repairs are often the first stage of a bigger project. Once the floor is sound, floor sanding takes everything back to fresh timber so new and old wood finish as one surface. If the floor only needs a refresh afterwards, a maintenance re-oil may be all it takes.
What we repair
Different floors fail in different ways, so we offer three dedicated repair services:
Parquet and block floor repairs - loose, hollow or missing blocks re-bonded or replaced, and herringbone or chevron patterns rebuilt.
Floorboards repairs - replacing damaged original boards, re-fixing loose ones and tidying old plumbing and electrical cut-outs.
Engineered & solid wood repairs - plank replacement, re-bonding lifted boards and dealing with movement or water damage.
Making repairs invisible
A repair is only successful if you cannot find it afterwards. Wherever we can, we use reclaimed timber of the same species and size, because new wood rarely matches the colour of floors that have aged for decades. Where new timber is the only option, careful sanding and staining bring it close to the surrounding floor.
Typical repair jobs
Creaking floors and boards that move underfoot
Loose parquet blocks and failed adhesive
Water damage, staining and cupped boards
Botched past repairs and visible patches
Burns, deep gouges and pet damage
Fixing the root of the problem
Before we fix anything, we work out why the floor failed. Lifting blocks often point to damp or failed adhesive, cupped boards to a leak or poor ventilation, and creaks to loose fixings or tired joists. We take moisture readings, inspect underneath where we can and talk you through the options. If something needs a plumber or builder first, we will tell you honestly rather than cover it up.
Repair, then restore
Once the floor is sound, you can decide how far to take it. Some customers add gap filling to cut draughts, or a stain to give the room a new look. Because timber moves through the year, gap filling is not covered by our service guarantee - we always explain why before work starts. Our restoration work itself is covered by a three-month service guarantee.
Repairs with peace of mind
We always survey the floor first and give you a fixed written quote, with no surprises on the day. We are fully insured, work tidily and protect the rest of your home while we work. Browse our recent projects to see repaired floors after finishing, or check our guide prices for typical costs.

Common questions
Will the new boards match the old ones?
In most cases. We use reclaimed timber of the same species and size wherever possible and tone it in during finishing.
Will the whole floor need refinishing?
For the best match a full sand and refinish is recommended, but we can often blend small repairs with a local finish.
Can you fix squeaky floors?
Yes. We locate the loose boards and re-fix them to the joists, often without lifting them.
How long do repairs take?
Small repairs are typically finished in a day; larger areas take longer, and we confirm timings with your quote.

Questions about Wood Floor Repairs
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and we confirm everything with a fixed written quote.
How should I prepare the room?
Empty the room where possible and take down curtains that reach the floor. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our guide to preparing your home has more tips.
Can you quote from photos?
For many jobs, yes. Photos of the floor plus rough measurements let us give a guide price quickly. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
Do you carry insurance?
Yes, we carry £5m public liability insurance. Certificates are available on request, which facilities managers and landlords often need before work starts.
When can I walk on the floor again?
Light foot traffic in socks is usually fine after a few hours. Furniture can go back after 24–48 hours, and rugs are best left off for around a week while the finish fully cures.
Do you guarantee your work?
Our floor restoration comes with a 3-month service guarantee. If something is not right with our workmanship during those three months, we come back and put it right. Gap filling is excluded, because wooden floors move with the seasons — see our service guarantee for the full terms.
What our customers say
Honest advice — no unnecessary work
“I asked for a full sand, but after looking at the floor they said a fresh coat of lacquer would do. Half the price and the floor looks like new. Rare honesty.”
Sanderstead
Fair price, brilliant finish
“Clear quote with no surprises. They explained the oil options without any pressure and the colour sample matched what we wanted perfectly.”
Sanderstead
Great advice on staining
“I had picked a colour from a brochure, but on our pine it would have looked almost black. The samples showed us a better option and the floor looks brilliant.”
