Herringbone Parquet Hallway
Loose and missing parquet blocks replaced before a full sand and matt lacquer finish.
About this project
The oak herringbone hallway had taken decades of heavy foot traffic. Blocks by the front door were rocking underfoot, and some had gone missing over the years.
Loose blocks were lifted, cleaned and re-bonded, and reclaimed oak blocks filled the gaps where originals were missing. Sanding followed in multiple directions to keep the pattern crisp and flat.
We finished with three coats of matt water-based lacquer for a durable, natural look. You can no longer tell where the repairs were made.
