Restoration Services for Public Spaces
Restoration for public buildings in Croydon: halls, classrooms and offices finished with minimal disruption.
Restoring floors in schools, churches and offices
A public building floor has to cope with heavy footfall, events, furniture and sometimes sport. With the right preparation and finish, an original wooden floor can be restored to look and perform like new. We work for headteachers, facilities managers, church committees and office managers, and we fit our work around your calendar.
Who we work with
Schools and academies - halls and classrooms restored during half-terms and summer holidays, with court markings re-applied.
Churches & community halls - careful restoration of old parquet and boards, planned around services and hall hire.
Offices - sanding and re-coating out of hours or at weekends, so your business keeps running.
Planned around your timetable
We know a hall cannot simply close for a week. Work can be phased room by room, done out of hours, or completed over a holiday so the building is ready when you need it. Dust-free sanding and low-odour water-based finishes mean the rest of the building can usually stay open.
Compliance you can rely on
We understand the compliance requirements of schools, churches and commercial premises. Before any job we supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and we can send copies of our £5m public liability insurance certificate. We are used to working in occupied buildings and follow your site rules.
Sports halls and court markings
Halls used for PE, sport and dance need the right balance of grip and durability. We use specialist sports lacquers with appropriate slip resistance, and re-apply badminton, netball, basketball and other court markings between coats. The result is a floor that looks sharp, performs well and stands up to years of use. We give your caretaking team clear cleaning and maintenance advice.
The case for restoration
Much cheaper than a replacement floor
Preserves original timber and character
More sustainable than ripping out and replacing
Faster turnaround, often within a holiday period
Maintenance plans for public buildings
A restored floor lasts much longer with a simple maintenance plan. We can set up a schedule of periodic re-coats, booked into the same holiday or quiet period each year, so the floor never wears through to bare timber. Good entrance matting and the right cleaning products make a noticeable difference. We look after many of the same buildings year after year.
We begin with a free survey and give you a fixed price and timetable. You can see typical costs on our prices page, though larger buildings are always quoted individually.
What we offer
Most projects combine full floor sanding with wood floor repairs to loose blocks or damaged boards. Between full restorations, lacquer re-coating keeps busy floors protected for a fraction of the cost. Take a look at our recent projects for examples of halls and public buildings we have restored.

Common questions
Can you work during school holidays?
Yes - holiday periods are our busiest time for schools, so early booking is advised.
Can you supply risk assessments?
Yes. We provide risk assessments, method statements and a copy of our £5m public liability insurance for every project.
Can you re-apply sports court markings?
Yes - markings are applied between coats so they are sealed under the final lacquer.
Do we need to close the building?
Usually only the area being worked on needs to close. Dust-free sanding and low-odour finishes keep disruption low.

Questions about Public Spaces
Will office work disrupt our staff?
Office floors can be done out of hours or in phases. Our dust-free machines and water-based lacquers mean minimal disruption to your team.
Do you work on listed buildings and church halls?
We have restored many church and community hall floors. We treat older floors with care and choose finishes suited to heavy public use. See churches and community halls.
How are your prices worked out?
Prices depend on the floor area, condition, repairs needed and the finish you choose. Our price list shows typical starting prices, and we confirm everything with a fixed written quote.
How should I prepare the room?
Empty the room where possible and take down curtains that reach the floor. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our guide to preparing your home has more tips.
Do you do court lines on hall floors?
Yes. After sanding we apply a slip-resistant sports lacquer and can repaint court markings for badminton, netball and other games between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.
Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?
We provide risk assessments, method statements and insurance details before work begins. Our team is used to working on occupied sites with strict safety rules.
What our customers say
Honest advice — no unnecessary work
“I asked for a full sand, but after looking at the floor they said a fresh coat of lacquer would do. Half the price and the floor looks like new. Rare honesty.”
Sanderstead
Fair price, brilliant finish
“Clear quote with no surprises. They explained the oil options without any pressure and the colour sample matched what we wanted perfectly.”
Sanderstead
Great advice on staining
“I had picked a colour from a brochure, but on our pine it would have looked almost black. The samples showed us a better option and the floor looks brilliant.”
