Restoring Victorian Floorboards
Original pine boards in a Victorian terrace in Croydon, sanded, gap filled and finished in natural hardwax oil.
About this project
Under a worn carpet, the homeowners found the house's original pine floorboards, complete with painted borders, carpet gripper holes and several damaged boards.
We replaced the damaged boards with matched reclaimed pine, secured loose boards and punched in protruding nails. The floor was then sanded back to fresh timber with our dust-free machines, working carefully around the original skirting.
Pine slivers closed the larger gaps, and two coats of natural hardwax oil gave a soft, hard-wearing finish. The family were walking on the floor again after two days.
